Alexander McQueen distinguished himself from the start with ground-breaking collections and dramatic avant-garde shows. The Savile Row-trained British designer graduated from Central St Martins in 1995 and went on to work as head designer at Givenchy before launching his eponymous label in 2001. McQueen committed suicide in February of 2010.

Vogue editor Anna Wintour released a statement saying,

"He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing -- from street style, to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss."

Lady Gaga was considered McQueen's muse and debuted her video, "Bad Romance" at his Spring/Summer 2010 runway show during Paris Fashion Week.
