Born on July 11, 1934, Giorgio Armani grew up with his sister and brother in the northern Italian town of Piacenza. On July 24, 1975, the two business partners founded Giorgio Armani S.p.A. and launched a men's and women's ready-to-wear line.
Armani became known for his menswear suits as well as tastefully simple Oscar dresses , so the fashion world was surprised when he began designing outfits for Lady Gaga.
“No other artist would give me the opportunity to devise such original and way-out creations,” Armani explains. “Lady Gaga’s costumes are a pure creativity exercise that allows me to design spectacular, almost surreal pieces.”
The veteran designer was able to step out of his trademark role and be creative again.
